The CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI), Hyderabad, under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, has invited online applications for recruitment to Technician-1 / Group-II (1) posts.

A total of 21 permanent Technician posts are available across nine trades including Fitter, Plumber, Electrician, Computer / IT Assistant, Digital Photographer, Laboratory Assistant, Medical Laboratory Technician, Physiotherapy Technician and Catering & Hospitality Assistant.

Trade-wise Vacancy Details

Out of the 15 UR posts, one is reserved for PwBD-OH, one for PwBD-HH and two for Ex-Servicemen, as specified in the official notification.

Educational Qualification

The basic qualification for the Technician posts is SSC / 10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects and minimum 55% marks, together with the prescribed trade qualification or qualifying experience.

For the ITI route, candidates must possess an ITI Certificate or National / State Trade Certificate in the relevant trade.

Alternative Experience Routes

The notification also provides alternative qualification routes for the Technician posts.

• 2 years full-time apprentice trainee experience from a recognised institution in the relevant trade; or
• 3 years relevant work experience in the specified trade in a Ministry / Department / Organisation / PSU / Autonomous Body under the Central Government, State Government or Union Territory.

These alternatives are subject to the exact conditions and trade requirements specified for each post code in the official notification.

Post-wise Qualification

Age Limit

The minimum age is 18 years and the normal upper age limit is 28 years, calculated on the closing date of the online application.

Salary

In addition to basic pay, selected candidates are entitled to applicable Central Government / CSIR allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance (TA), according to applicable rules.

Other benefits mentioned by CSIR-NGRI include applicable medical reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession and Children's Education Allowance.

Trade Test

The Trade Test is intended to assess the candidate's practical knowledge and ability in the relevant trade.

The Selection Committee will decide the exact mode and conduct of the Trade Test.

Negative Marking

Paper-II and Paper-III are evaluated only for candidates who achieve the minimum threshold in Paper-I. The final merit list is prepared from marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III.

Application Fee

The applicable ₹500 fee must be paid through the prescribed SBI Collect online payment system. Candidates claiming fee exemption must upload the relevant supporting certificate/document.

Important Points for ITI Candidates

• Minimum 10th qualification with Science subjects and 55% marks is required.
• ITI / National Trade Certificate / State Trade Certificate must correspond to the advertised trade.
• Fitter candidates should apply only for the Fitter post code.
• Electrician candidates should apply for the Electrician post code.
• COPA and Computer Hardware & Network Maintenance candidates are relevant for the Computer / IT Assistant post.
• Only one application is permitted for each post code.
• Separate applications are required when applying for more than one post code.
• The application fee must be paid separately for each applicable post code.
• The Screening Committee may shortlist candidates beyond the minimum eligibility requirements.
• Mere possession of the minimum qualification does not guarantee a call for the Trade Test.

Job Location

The recruitment is for CSIR-NGRI, Hyderabad, Telangana.

However, the notification specifies All India Service Liability (AISL). Selected employees may be required to serve at other CSIR laboratories, institutes or units anywhere in India.

Nature of Appointment

These are regular Central Government / CSIR service posts. Selected candidates will be governed by the applicable CSIR Service Rules, 1994 and related rules.

Selected candidates will be placed on probation for the prescribed period. On successful completion of probation, confirmation will be considered according to the applicable rules.
